UK and the Snow – irritating News items.

What to do with the snow in the UK.
What to do with the snow in the UK.

Here in the UK, we’ve had the pleasure of loads of snow. Well I say loads, nothing compared to places such as Moscow.

However, it was enough to cause chaos across the UK and the inevitable moany old mutterings of why does it cause so much chaos?

Put simply, it causes Chaos because we only ever get snow like this once in a blue moon and it only ever lasts a day or two, so why would anyone country bother to spend millions ‘just in case’? I guess things are made worse, not only by the weather, but the fear of litigation we no have to live with.

What drives me mad are news programs making daft comparisons to highlight our supposed incompetence with dealing with the extreme weather. Last night the news drew a comparison with Moscow and why if they can manage with extreme weather, can we not manage with a little bit of snow.

They overlooked the fact that Moscow typically has snowfall from late October through to March, so making it significantly worthwhile, if not vital, to have plans and equipment at the ready.

The BBC featured this, as do the Guardian here. Why??

Rant over… I made good use of the time building my family in Snow!

We get the same thing here on the west coast of Canada. Typically we get one short snowfall a year so why would we be prepared for it? :)

Like your snow family. Striking resemblance…
